DO YOU LISTEN TO PODCASTS?

Did you know that podcasts have been around since 2004, which is when they were first invented?
However, they didn’t really take off until around 2014, which is when the first International Podcast Day was celebrated.
As of this year, there are over 5 million podcasts globally, with over 70 million episodes between them, and podcasts are available in over 150 languages.
Some of the most popular subjects:
- Personal Development and Growth
- Health and Wellness Tips
- Business and Entrepreneurship
- Sports News and analysis
- Pop Culture Discussions
- History and Culture
- Science and Technology
- Comedy and entertainment
- Music News and reviews
5 Reasons why people love podcasts
- The content is free (unless you access a premium listening app).
- You can listen to whatever you choose to listen to.
- You can listen to them while you’re on the move – as you multitask
- You make a connection with the podcast host.
- They provide an instant community
Why not write a post about your favourite podcast that you listen to, with the hashtag #InternationalPodcastDay
As you some of you will know, I have a podcast – PR not BS! I started this in December 2021, and it goes out twice a month.
At the time of writing, I’ve had over 3000 downloads, and two have had downloads into three figures.
I’ve interviewed many different journalists and other PR business people alongside a variety of other businesses, and it’s always interesting hearing how people view PR. I’m glad to say, most of them are on the same hymn sheet as me. My guests recently have included actor, David Gillespie and crime writer and former police officer, Julie Mackay – two very diverse guests, but both absolutely fascinating.
Early in 2024, I’m running my second Podcast training day. I already have two people booked on.
My first podcast training day was very successful, and I had wonderful feedback.
Several of the attendees have already started to plan their own!
Reasons why you might start a podcast
- To be visible, to push your business forward, and so people can find you in different places? Brand awareness.
- To share your expertise and knowledge – a thought leader.
- To showcase other people in the same profession as you, which reflects on the fact that you ‘know’ the right people.
- To generate business.
- A collaboration space.
- Show your personality and passion for the subject.
So, if you are interested in setting up your own podcast, then this is the workshop for you.
You will learn about the importance of planning, about the use of music and about the programs that can help you to set up your podcast.
The workshop takes place at Swindon radio 105.5, in a studio setting, and everyone had the opportunity to be either interviewed, or be the interviewer. Everyone was given constructive feedback, and by the time we all left, people were buzzing.
If you would like to find out more and book a place on my next Podcast workshop, then please contact my VA, Hannah, who will send you the information.
