INVEST IN SOME MEDIA MAGIC!
Those of you who know me, understand that I am spiritual and have been my whole life – though when growing up it was more akin to religion as my mum was (and is) a Christian, ran the local Sunday School and I was in the church choir for my childhood years.
As I’ve got older, I’ve moved away from ritualised traditional religion and moved into a more neutral space where I embrace the power of the universe, nature and the human spirit.
One definition of spirituality is the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul, as opposed to material or physical things. I’m not very materialistic, I like nice stuff but have always valued relationships with human beings more. As long as my basic needs are met, I don’t crave lots of ‘stuff’. I do however believe in ‘value’ and for me being valued and respected are very important drivers.
Over the years, I’ve worked with a number of spiritual business owners – from those where spirituality is obviously and clearly part of their business to those who have deep belief systems and moral codes though this is not outwardly part of their business story.
My friend and client Samantha Jayne is an award-winning Spiritual Business Coach who helps spiritually minded entrepreneurs to help them create the success they desire.
Sam is one of those collaborators I’ve got to know over the last few years and we collaborate regularly. In fact I have trained and guided her PR and she has been the ideal ‘pupil’ as when I say ‘jump’ she says ‘how high’!

Samantha will share some of her personal experiences of PR and why it’s helped her ‘spiritual’ business grow, particularly since lockdown.

Many spiritual businesses have fears about being seen in the media because of the negative views of some people. However, Samantha will help you shift those fears, and I will share what the media are looking for, how to get their attention and how to make the most out of your media presence.
Many people don’t believe in ‘spirit’, don’t buy into it, or are very sceptical and that’s okay. The world has space for people to believe different things.
However there are issues around press guidelines, the law, social media and these are not just reserved for spiritual businesses.
Many other businesses can have problems too. For example, nutritional therapists have to be careful about making medical claims around supplements or diets on social media and on their own websites.
Those companies which sell CBD products can have huge problems on social media, both selling and marketing, even though CBD has been medically recognised in the UK for more than five years.
Even today in the UK, in most cases, the NHS will not offer access to complementary and alternative medicine, although it is becoming a little more open in its thinking – many medical practitioners are reluctant to openly embrace the benefits of these types of businesses or experts because there is a lack of ‘scientific proof’. This has eased since lockdown yet it’s still a thing which some business owners and experts have to navigate.
Apart from chiropractors, there’s no professional statutory regulation of complementary and alternative treatments in the UK, which is perhaps what makes it harder to know how to market your business.
However, with the number of years of experience I have in my business, I can help you negotiate and interpret any problems or guidelines for your business.
