My PR Academy is live!

Posted on February 28, 2023 by Categories: Uncategorized

The latest new service I’m offering is the PR Academy with Fiona Scott.  I’m very excited to be offering no more than 20 people the opportunity to become part of my Academy.

It is a new paid for, membership group, which offers those who want to know more about PR and particularly, media relations and who is wants a ‘light touch’ approach to credible and practical support.

Who is the PR Academy suitable for?

  • People who want to start a new business, and they want to learn about things that can help them get their new business known.
  • People who are still in the early years of their business, but want to learn more about PR and how it can help them.
  • Established businesses who don’t do PR at all, or who want to learn more about what they should be doing, for a relatively small investment.
  • You might work in a charity as a volunteer, with a very limited budget.
  • Also, for someone who is a marketing manager, or marketing executive working in a business, and they want to know how to ‘up their game’ when it comes to media and PR.

You could actually be a very successful business owner, or an expert in your field and you want to access opportunities for a small investment.

How will it work?

This will be mainly delivered through a closed and private FB group.  It will be a safe place where members can ask questions, share their knowledge, share wins (maybe when they’ve appeared in local media, or in a national magazine; had a radio interview, been a guest blogger, interviewed on a podcast etc).   It will be a space for anyone to share whatever they want, however, things must not be shared outside the group, unless you have been specifically asked to share.

What are the benefits of being a member of the Academy?

I will share lots of information: -.

  • Journalist requests
  • Info from influencers
  • Bloggers who are proactively looking for people to provide content
  • People looking for others to be involved as a case study
  • People looking for interviewees.

However, as a member of the group, you must make the efforts yourself to follow-up when I have shared opportunities. This is not a ‘done for you’ model. You do the work, but I will be supporting you to be successful.

Requests from journalists take two forms:

Generic: where they ask for something really specific which could apply to anyone. So, for example, it could be: What is your favourite film?  What is your favourite colour? People who dye their hair purple. People who prefer to keep their hair grey…

Specific: things that I think will suit particular members of the group.

For example: Food and drink for Mother’s Day gifts guide; 5 tips for healthy eating…

If I find something that suits group members, then I’ll tag specific members in that post, and that will be the hint that it is for them.

Monthly recordings about upcoming story hooks:

Each month I’ll record story ideas coming up for the next month such as themes, topics, awareness days, weeks or for the month. So I’ll record April’s in the middle of March, to enable members to plan stories, blogs, social media, campaigns, individual posts, press releases.

I will be thinking ahead of things that the media might be focusing on during the next month – it might be new films, books coming out, etc.

Members of the group can attend live, or listen to the recording later. People who are not in the group, will have to pay for each individual session.

Discounts:

Group members will also receive discounts on any interaction with me:

Normally for a Power Hour, the cost is £199 +vat, but as a member of my academy, members will get 50 off, for up to one power hour a month.

On workshops they will get a 10% discount.

When I’m running a retreat, they will get a discount.

I can check over a press release, which is normally £150 + vat per hour (ad hoc work) but for members that hourly cost will be  £99 + vat.

The biggest advantage, apart from learning more about PR and media, members will have access to me at a cheaper price than those who want me to do a ‘one off’ project for them.

Workshops:

There will be opportunities for me to do ad hoc short, courses (maybe on video, cheat sheet, or PDF), in response to questions that are asked in the group.

 Costs and Ts & Cs:

£97 a month inclusive of VAT

Or £970 for the year, inclusive of VAT which means two months for free.

I ask for a year’s commitment so members are tied in for a year. If they leave within the year, they will not get a refund if they’ve paid for the full amount, and if paying monthly will be billed for the rest of the year.

After a year, members can leave, or make the decision to become one of my retained clients. Also, after the year they enter into a rolling contract which can be exited 30 days’ notice.
