Lis McDermott
Growing up in Leicestershire, Lis McDermott has always been involved in the arts in some form or other. On leaving school, she studied, Piano, Harp and Singing at the Royal Manchester college of music.
She worked in music education for 34 years, latterly as the Wiltshire Music Adviser, then in 2008, left and set up her own photography business. Photographing people; babies, weddings, business headshots.
During her time in education she co-authored a music scheme for schools, and as a photographer, she wrote ‘Headshot Diva’ – why you need professional headshots for business.
From 2017 to 2020 she’d published a book of short stories, an autobiography, and several anthologies of poetry.
In 2020 she embraced being an author, poet and writing mentor. She runs an online, monthly poetry group. In 2022 she published her first novel ‘He is Not Worthy’, and her second, ‘Echoes of Drowning’ will be published on May 1 2024.
