Christmas social media and blog campaigns!
Have you ever thought about the fun blogs or social media campaigns you can do leading up to Christmas?
For example, I recently wrote about whether or not it matters about getting the right present. I was talking about when family members or very close friends buy me presents and don’t always get it right – which one would hope they should, especially if they are family or people who know you well. I think they should take time thinking about the present and not just grab something at the last minute – it’s definitely something that I do.
Also, there can be a lot of fun in Christmas, which we need when there’s so many terrible things going on in the world as there are at the moment. I really enjoyed the Last Leg on Channel 4 in a recent episode where they ended the show with a whole skit on ‘is it too early to be Christmas?’ – very, very funny.
Here are some ideas for you:
*A fun activity that you and any staff members can do for 12 days leading up to Christmas – perhaps something to raise funds for a charity you support:
Run an in office competition for the most outlandishly Christmas decorated/dressed person – take photos and or videos and ask people to vote and donate for your chosen charity.
Organise office lunchtime ‘runs’ with a different theme each day? Everyone wearing some tinsel decoration; wearing Christmas hats; a Christmas jumper day; dressed as Christmas characters – etc. Make sure you tell your local clients and people in the area where you run, so that they can donate to your charity – and don’t forget to take lots of pictures. Run different routes around the area – taking a bucket for any money collected.
* Create an online digital advent calendar that all of your followers can have fun with. Use photos, short stories, videos, all linked to the charity work you have done during the year for your chosen charity; or alternatively talking about what your chosen charity does. Run a raffle (with donations) alongside or as part of the calendar where special prizes appear.
*Encourage followers on social media to post images of themselves wearing their favourite ugly Christmas Jumper and offer a prize for the one that gets the most votes!
*If your business is product based, create a Christmas shopping list with offers and possible giveaways.
*Blogs: Write fun listicles of a variety of 10 things or write blogs about:
- The types of Christmas presents I hate and maybe the worst one I’ve ever received!
- The strangest Christmas presents I’ve received
- The things you’d rather eat than Christmas turkey and a traditional Christmas dinner.
- Ask your staff about the most exciting or favourite Christmas they’ve had
- Write about how much or how little you decorate your house/office at Christmas
- What are your favourite Christmas films or songs?
- Do you have special family traditions that you follow at Christmas?
