I’m making some changes in 2025…

Scott Media Speakers has been going since March this year, and I’ve already had bookings for several of the speakers.

Initially the was that Scott Media Speakers would be made up of clients and contacts of mine who either aspire to be or are already paid speakers at business events for organisation of all sizes and across a range of topics.

The reason I started this was because there is a gap in the market where many speaker agencies only focus on high-ticket speakers and neglect those in a more affordable price bracket. People who may not be motivated by money, or who just want to grow in experience when it comes to public speaking.

At the moment there are four tiers, where I have chosen to place the speakers, with nearly 50 speakers across those four tiers.  The costing of the tiers starts at £100 and rises to £500 plus for the top tier.

Speakers offer a range of topics that they can talk about, and that range is very broad – from subjects related directly to their business expertise, to subjects related to personal experience and beyond.

What are the changes for 2025?

I’m going to remove the paid tiers. Instead of me making the decision about which tier people should go in, each speaker’s profile will have guidance as to what they expect to be paid.

Why am I making these changes?

Because a lot of the enquiries are around people well known in their area of expertise- but people are wanting or even expecting them to speak for free.

On occasions, the emails I receive from people wanting to book a speaker, include a degree of emotional blackmail, particularly when it comes to Chris and Louise Hunt Skelley. Some people make a discriminatory assumption that someone with a disability should not expect to be paid for their time or expertise. Or it comes from people where their attitude is ‘you’re disabled so you’ll inspire other disabled people. You won’t need paying.’

You’d think that people would recognise that everyone needs to earn money to live!
