Is a podcast PR?
Yes! Building a podcast is a great way to engage with your PR – it is part of your PR activity. But why? And what do you need to think about when it comes to creating a podcast?
What is important about your podcast is that you are consistent. You need to plan long-term, and you need to think about sustainability for your audience. So, if someone find you – they can binge your content and get to see the array of things you do.
Most people simply give up too soon, which means you are not showing up for your business and your PR in a way you need to.
Why is making a podcast important for your PR?
Well, it increases your visibility and pushed your business forward. People can find you in different places and you build an awareness of your brand.
You can also share your expertise and knowledge on a platform that you control. This is your podcast, you curate your content and therefore, your PR.
A great tool in PR is networking, if you didn’t know that – well get on the bandwagon, because it is about conversations and making yourself visible and creating stories for your business. The way you can create stories with your podcast is to engage with people in your profession or people you work with. This is some of the highest forms of PR. It gets people talking and engaging with your business! It allows them to see that you are part of a network of individuals and that you ‘know’ the right people. It is about building trust that you are a key player in your business field.
You can use your podcast to encourage people towards your products; you can do this by having physical products in shot or being talked about or being used. You can have a topic of conversation with clear questions that guide the interview/discussion onto what you like. This can create direct and indirect sales through your marketing.
Importantly, it shows your personality and tells people who you are and why you do what you do.
People buy from people, and they are more likely to trust, see and engage with people who are willing to show them who they are. Have you ever researched (or online stalked) a company, a group, a professional to check if they are legitimate or that they are in fact an expert or that they are still practicing. You don’t want those things up in the air. You want relevant and up-to-date presence, showing your progress, your personality, and getting attention. Podcasts are great way to control your PR narrative!
Doing my podcast is one of my favourite parts of my own PR activity. It is great fun, but it also allows for me to have conversations with the most amazing people.
