It’s the first month of Summer

Every season can be a source of stories, and this year June is the Great Outdoors Month, which fits perfectly with the first month of summer – as long as our British weather maintains the sunny outlook we’ve recently had.

It’ a great month for holiday organisers/businesses as the good weather encourages everyone to think about their summer destinations. If we have good weather in the UK, then it will be a great time for UK holiday venues too, who need to be ready with their social media blogs and advertising.

Ideas for social media stories linked to summer.

  • I walk our dog every morning, and I see wonderful changes when I’m out and about. Today I saw a woodpecker, herons, and a sunbathing fox. I know lots of people walk at some point in their workday, for exercise, or their wellness – getting out in the fresh air. Watching the changes in the plants and trees about you, and the different animals, insects that appear makes each walk different. It gives you time to think about difficult problems, or just relax – but either way, sometimes you see something amazing, that would make a great story for your social media. For those that follow me, you’ll see my photos each day.  You can also capture daily images or even write a fun post about a sunbathing fox – making up a creative reason behind why he is able to relax and sunbathe, linked to your business.
  • Have you got a business anniversary this month? If so, make the most of the clement weather and organise an outdoor event (with gazeboes on standby), where you can celebrate in summery style. Choose an event linked to your business; maybe a barbeque or look to past and have a ‘garden’ party themed event, with food to match.

A good time to get involved in community projects, or help to set them up, maybe linked with local schools. Ensure though, that it’s not just a box-ticking event, but something that you aim to continue.

  • Gardening businesses – bring some joy to the local area. You could join in with the types of projects above or possibly set up your own gardening projects to help local community members that are unable to keep their gardens as they have in the past. Perhaps ‘make-over’ a community area that has been left to die and become overgrown. Make sure you don’t forget to have your branded vehicle, or a branded A-board outside where you’re working.

When organising any events remember to take lots of photos you can share with local press and on your own business website/social media posts
