Reviewing your year!
This is the time when everyone looks back at the year that’s gone, before we leap into the new year. So, how has your business gone this year? Sit down and look back across the year – you’ll probably be surprised with how many things have happened.
Six of my own highlights this year have been:
- I won Solopreneur of the Year at the South West Business and Community Awards and again at the Great British Business and Community Awards.
- Several clients of mine have also won awards this year.
- My podcast, PR not BS, has reached over 6,000 downloads.
- I returned to Las Vegas to write about the SuiteWorld Conference for the publication SME Today.
- I celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary
- My second book ‘Tales of a Backwater Journalist’ was published on 11 November.
By reviewing what you’ve done in 2025, you are reminding people of your businesses wins and highlights. Share what you are happy to have out there in the public eye. To help you think about what’s gone on, here are 15 ideas to jog your memory.
For example, during this year your business might have:-
*Celebrated a business birthday
*Moved into new, larger premises for your business
*Taken on new members of staff
*Taken on apprentices
*Merged with another successful business, giving you a far stronger base.
*Developed and launched new products or services
*Taken professional exams and passed. This shows your commitment to learning and development ensuring you are completely up to date in the latest innovations and research of practices in your sector.
*Hit a sales target that you’ve been working towards for a long time.
*Won funding for a large project
*Been nominated for an award.
*Won an award or several.
*Written a business book
*Been involved in a national business event, such as ‘Small Business Saturday UK’
*Started working with and supporting a new charity
* Appeared in the local press; national press or been on TV
You might be surprised to see just how much you have achieved this year, when you sit down and make a list.
All of these things add to your credibility as a business and raises your profile. If you had any press coverage of these events, then repurpose the content. Also, share stories that you have previously shared and have been received favourably.
As the time between Christmas and January is very quiet, you could also create a New Year flash sale or special offer. This will pull new people into your circle, but you could also create sales offers for existing clients as a ‘thank you’ for their continued support over 2025.
