September Hooks for your Content!

For many, September is the month of new beginnings. Children go back to school, and Summer gradually turns to Autumn. Personally, this is one of my favourite times of year, the change in seasons is such a beautiful transition, and Autumn brings with it a breath of fresh air and beautiful rich colours.

For many people, September can also bring a sense of hope. A new school year, a new project, a new routine, or simply a fresh mindset can provide motivation. This is a month where starting university and going back to school is a big part of many people’s lives, so it’s a great time to talk about this if it’s relevant to you and your business. Serve your audiences this month with useful hints, tips and tricks. It almost feels like the second half of the year where we can make the changes we want before reaching December. We do not necessarily need to wait for the new year to make changes in our everyday lives. September reminds us that every month can be an opportunity to begin again. Ultimately, the significance of September lies in its ability to represent both an ending and a beginning. It encourages us to reflect on where we have been, appreciate where we are, and look forward to where we are going.

September has two birth flowers: The Aster and The Morning Glory. Both flowers represent the transition from summer into autumn, featuring bright colours like purple, pink, blue and white. Traditionally, The Aster represents wisdom, patience, faith and powerful love. It closely resembles a daisy with thin petals radiating from a yellow centre. The Morning Glory, however, represents affection, unrequited love and mortality or fleeting beauty. It’s a trumpet-shaped flower that opens early in the morning sun and closes by the afternoon. September’s birth stone is the Sapphire, which is most famous for its rich blue shade and can also occur in a rainbow of other colours. The Lapis Lazuli crystal is often used as a substitute for Sapphire in jewellery due to its likeness. Lapis Lazuli can be identified by its beautiful blue colour with gold stripes running through it.

Could you create a blog or social media post related to one of these dates? Do any of these really stand out to you or relate closely to your business ethos? Could you do something fun in the office that relates to one of these dates and then post it online? These can be used for inspiration which could be turned into a story for the media. Can you comment this month on issues that have arisen around sporting events, celebrities or big news stories?

Are there any changes in the law that will affect your business this month? Are you speaking at an event this month? Do you have a new team member joining you this month? Are there any awareness days/weeks this month that are completely aligned with your business or purpose?

Think about how you personally and professionally engage with these topics. Create social media posts. Engage with your audience. Our diary/planner is a great place to look for a more detailed breakdown. Anything you do needs to be documented and shared from start to finish. This can turn into multiple stories, which is easier when pitching to journalists. Please remember to check on a calendar as dates can vary from year to year.
