Special days and events in March 2026
Here are some examples of the events and special days that occur in March that you can write about.
They may be dates that resonate with you personally – for example you might be interested in films, love watching comedy, or love getting lost in books. Alternatively, there could be days that would be good to write about with a business perspective ; careers week, world engineering day or write blogs during British Science Week.
Most of the following five dates remain the same each year, apart from Mothering Sunday which moves according to the date of Easter, and the Spring Equinox is either the 1, 20 or 21st of March.
How do you celebrate these events, if you do?
**1 – St David’s Day
**8 – International Women’s Day
**15 – Mothering Sunday (UK)
**17 – St Patrick’s Day
**20 – Spring Equinox
Yearly events taking place in the UK:
**5 -8 Crufts: National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.
**10 -13 Cheltenham Festival: National Hunt horse racing held at Cheltenham Racecourse.
**11 – 29 Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
** 19-29 Manchester Film Festival.
**20 Red Nose Day
There are many things that you and your team might do to make money for charity on Red Nose Day. Take part in challenges, have a themed dress-up day, put on events to engage with your community – all wear red noses for the day… whatever you choose to do – write about it. Take plenty of pictures for your social media and share the amount you raised. It’s the perfect opportunity for PR, showing that you ‘give back’.
Some world events and awareness days:
**2 – 7 Business National Careers Week
You might have been involved in talking to a local secondary school about your business, or have invited students in to visit your business in situ. Talk about that experience.
**3 World Wildlife Day
**4 World Engineering Day
**5 World Book day – what’s your favourite book or who is your favourite author?
**6 -15 British Science Week
Are you a woman working in the Engineering, or Science industries? If so, with this month also having International Women’s Day – talk about being a woman in a predominantly male arena. How does it feel? What are the obstacles, or are there in fact any positives? How do we get more young girls interested in engineering and scientific jobs?
**6 – 15 Paralympic winter games
The games will be held in Italy featuring paralympic athletes competing in six sports across venues in Lombardy and Northeast Italy. The opening ceremony will be in the Verona Arena, and they are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Winter Paralympics. Eleven team GB athletes have been confirmed so far; Para Alpine skiers, Para Snowboarders, Para Nordic skiers and wheelchair curlers. Neil Simpson, Para Alpine skier, made history when he became the first British male athlete to win gold on snow at the Beijing Paralympic Games.
** 28 Earth hour – 8.30pm
This is an initiative that is celebrating 20 years of impact this year. Since 2007, it has been a symbolic ‘lights off’ in support of the planet. If the loss of nature and climate crisis is something that resonates with you, then this might be something you want to look into. Are you creating a ‘green’ business? How are you going about it?
