DO YOU STRUGGLE TO COME UP WITH STORY IDEAS FOR YOUR BUSINESS?
I might actually be able to help you with this! The investment is £40 (plus postage and packaging if relevant) and the resource will be available from October 1!
If you think this will benefit you, read on…
This is the third year that I have produced my diary and planner. It started out as an asset for my retained clients and members of my PR Academy – they get it for free as a value-added item for working with me – to encourage them to keep telling their stories on a daily, monthly and weekly basis throughout the year.
This asset originates in the monthly posts I did throughout lockdown, where I talked about all the things that would be happening that month, to enable people to have ideas to write blogs and make social media posts when they couldn’t get out and about. During that period being visible was even more critical than normal. I would share with them the many different awareness days coming up in the month and talk about any other special events that were taking place. These posts were incredibly popular, and when things went back to normal, I recognised an opportunity to produce something yearly that would do the same job, plus add in some extra materials to help people plan. So, in 2023, my first social media diary and planner was born!
The first year, the images throughout the diary were rather random, then in this years’ diary, 2024, there are a few more images of me dotted throughout, related to the month where they appear. Each year a small part of the content of the diary has to be tweaked because some of the social media awareness days change each year, but it mostly follows the same pattern.
For 2025, I’ve had a full-on photoshoot, with props and everything so that each month I have an image directly related either to Scott Media or to the season (for example in May you’ll see Lauren’s feet!)
5 reasons why the diary is of value to my clients and you:
- Having a physical diary that you can refer to at a glance is useful, so you can plan for the year ahead, and at the end of the month and then the year you can refer back to see what worked well and what didn’t.
- You can plan any media outreach because you can anticipate any relevant themes, events or stories that the media might be interested in which are relevant to your brand.
- You can look through the months ahead and find out which awareness days resonate with you, your brand and your expertise. Some of these will have themes and events that are relevant to your business or organisation, and these will make good blog posts, social media posts, videos, reels and so on.
- Look out for themes which are 100% in your space and plan increased activity and messaging for that particular month. You could also plan events or approach the media during that month because you are a specialist in that area. For example, October = menopause, going sober or computer learning month.
- By writing social media posts and blogs – sharing your stories about you, your business, your profession you are becoming visible on a regular basis. As I’ve mentioned many times, journalists are always looking for stories and do often search on social media so ensure that you use relevant hashtags around said campaign, awareness day/week/month.
What does the diary contain?
*Each month starts with a double spread informing you about:
- Subjects or national campaigns to give focus to during that particular month – raising awareness.
- There are 9 different category lists of awareness days that occur in that month. They include health & beauty; technology & innovation; food & drink; spiritual; history – and more.
- There is also a list of PR prompts to encourage you to identify your own stories within your own business or organisation.
*For each month there is a calendar that spreads over several pages, laid out weekly, with plenty of space to write. Including a space at the beginning of the week for goals.
*There are other pages too – ‘Reflect – make a note’ and ‘Remember to gather testimonials’- where you can note who you’ve worked with during that month, or note testimonials, or case studies that you’ve received.
It’s an asset where you have lots of information, broken down into months, that will be able to help you plan when looking back and filling out your next diary in the following year.
